FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

If you don't see your question here, please reach out and ask!

1) Can I check in early or check out later?

Check-in is at 4pm and check-out is at 10am. We don’t normally allow early or late check outs, so that we have plenty of time to properly clean the cottage for your arrival or clean for the next guest after your stay. However, sometimes we can accommodate during the low season. Please contact us to ask before your arrival and see if we can accommodate.

2) Do you require a deposit and what is your cancellation policy?

Yes, we require a 50% deposit at the time of booking, with the second payment due 14 days before your stay.

The cancellation policy is One hundred percent (100.00%) of the total booking charges (less $50.00 taxable cancellation fee) will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 30 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. Fifty percent (50.00%) of the total booking charges (less $50.00 taxable cancellation fee) will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 14 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. For cancellations made within 14 days prior to the arrival date, no refund will be issued. However, if you have circumstances that require you to cancel with less than 14 days notice, please reach out and we can discuss applying the balance onto a future stay.

3) Do I have to bring my own linens, such as bedding, pillows, or towels?

No! Starting in 2025, comfy bed linens are provided for all beds in our cottages, including clean sheets, blankets, comforters, and pillows. We also provide each cottage with all necessary towels for the bathroom and kitchen.

4) What cooking/eating utensils will I need?

Our cottages are fully stocked with all the main cooking and dining needs. Unless you have a specific and unusual requirement, you should not need to bring anything with you. If you need something, please ask, because we might have one you can borrow.

We also provide complementary oil, salt, pepper, and a few other basic spices. And for the coffee maker, we provide coffee filters and a couple days’ supply of coffee.

5) Do you provide charcoal or lighter fluid for the grill?

No, we don’t provide charcoal or lighter fluid. Sometimes previous guests leave some behind and you are more than welcome to use it, but you can’t count on that being available. But, there are multiple stores within a 8-15min drive that carry charcoal and lighter fluid.

6) Do you have wood available for the fire pit?

Yes, we have firewood bundles available for purchase. Please let us know how many bundles you’d like to purchase and we’ll deliver them to your cottage for you.

7) Can we swim in the lake at the resort?

The shoreline where we are located on Hamlin Lake is more natural and not meant for swimming. It’s great for fishing, kayaking, or boating though! We have a heated pool open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Or you can take a boat out onto Hamlin Lake and swim in other areas where the sand dunes are located. Or we are only a 15 minute drive to the soft sand beaches of Lake Michigan.

8) Where can I fish and what licenses do I need?

Hamlin Lake is the perfect place to fish! You can fish directly from our boat docks and shoreline of our property or rent one of our boats to head out further onto the lake. Lake Michigan is also only 15 minutes away and provides wonderful fishing opportunities as well. Michigan requires anyone that is 17 or over to purchase a fishing license. There are many stores in the Ludington area that you can purchase one. And we also have a fish cleaning station free for guest use!

9) Will my cell phone work in your cottage?

Most likely yes, depending upon your carrier. Verizon and AT&T provide anywhere from 1-4 bars of 5G service across the property.

10) Do you have internet/Wi-Fi?

Yes! Starting in spring 2025, each cottage will have internet. Please see your cottage guest book for info on how to connect to the Wi-Fi.

11) Can I hold my wedding/family reunion/big party at the resort?

Absolutely! With over 30 acres, we have plenty of room for everyone. Please call or email to book.

Yes! Some of our cottages allow you to bring up to two well-behaved dogs for a $100 per dog fee. No other pets allowed besides dogs. So sorry, but our insurance doesn't allow Pit Bulls, Staffordshire Terriers, Rottweilers, or Dobermans. To protect our guests with allergies, some of our cottages do not allow dogs, so please do not allow your dogs into those cottages.
